   Thank You for the inspiring keynote from You and Your friend. Especially Your words about theology and the “lazyness” of Your students are still in my mind and I am wondering about it: how can we be free and be a strong disciple of Jesus as well.

   Good to meet you. I don’t think I said they were lazy – just that it’s not an excuse for being lazy! One idea I have found helpful in relation to your question is improvisation. To improvise in music you need to know the tradition, the scales, the rules, the notes, the possibilities within that. But the more you know that the deeper your free improvisation is likely to be able to be. I think it’s the same in mission or theology – know the tradition but improvise in and out of it. Tom Wright writes about his idea in one his many books!
