the photo exhibition over the last two weeks was really good – this reel gives you a flavour of the launch night which was really buzzing. i didn’t want to post my photo that was in it on my blog before the show as i like the element of discovery (though it did get posted as promo on instagram).

i never know whether it’s a good idea to give some explanation or not but now it’s over so no harm done… the theme was between light and shadow and the brief talked about exploring the ambiguities in the wider culture. truth for example has become a slippery word with world leaders blatantly lying and twisting truths. it took my mind to trickster who i have written about before and we have had an exhibition about too. but one of the ruses of trickster characters in the stories is that they disturb notions of truth and property. i had a lot of fun exploring and making a fox and raven mask (sadly i couldn’t find coyote) – two of the characters in the myths. there is a cafe in hammersmith called truth which is the location and i particularly like it that one of the letters doesn’t work. thanks to jen for being my model at 6:30 in the morning!

the raven mask is in the header from another photo – i will add a few to flickr. i like this photo too because it is a bit more subtle, at least in the full version, in that you don’t notice raven in the corner at first. this is probably the most fine art photography project i have ever done i think. the whole group of 18 photographers did an amazing job and one of the group, michael, recorded an original ambient soundscape to go with it which was very cool indeed. i’ll post on instagram some outtakes of me trying on the masks when i was making them which are fun.

thank you to st mary’s forhosting us and being so generous with the space. it really works so well. hopefully it is a win win.
