i was on a retreat at the weekend on lindisfarne and there is an amazing sculpture there in st mary's church of monks carrying the body of st cuthbert to the mainland en route to durham. it's an extraordinary sculpture – i found it utterly compelling. apparently it was largely made by chainsaw – the artist is fenwick lawson.
I was there last week! Jude loved the sculpture…
Oh yes, I found that piece very powerful too. I loved Lindisfarne, it felt like a thin place as Smith Wigglesworth (? is that the right person?) might say.
So Jonny- you took the softer retreat option this year did you! Hope it was all you needed, because if not, there is still room on the boat!
