You have to know the rules of any tradition, and you have to respect those rules enough to know why they do exist–and thus how to break them properly, for the sake of a larger and more essential value.
Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been contemplating seminary for a couple years now (as a youth minister in the U.S.) Reading this piece on the prophet helped me articulate why I want to go deeper into the tradition I now work in – so I might be faithful, yet iconoclastic and challenging.
