moot have done a fantastic job with lenten journeys, an art exhibition in the SW1 gallery in victoria. it’s a wonderful space and mike radcliffe had curated it well. the opening this evening had a great vibe. there’s a mix of paintings, photos, video installation, stencils, and mixed media pieces all exploring art and spirituality for lent.

joel claims he is now an art collector after he bought a piece of art for 52p – clearly a playful price in a gallery with some pieces selling for several thousand pounds. i was pleased with how my photo printed – it’s the bench on ealing common in the fog and i have arranged it with a garden bench in front of it. the photo speaks to me of contemplation and mystery so i thought a bench to sit on and contemplate the bench would work well. it had become a coat rack at the opening but hopefully might gain a more contemplative feel through the week!

mike radcliffe picked up on the idea of being stuck in a traffic jam as as close an experience as you get in the city to desert or solitude. this is an idea i first came across from mike riddell in a column in third way magazine and that we explored a few years back at grace. so it was good to see it still sparking imagination. i also liked his cross made from cigarettes… in a protected case.
