i often post about the big chill… i mentioned the bar in london the other week… well i bought their book crossfade and read a couple of chapters in bed this morning on ‘bleep’ and ‘chill out’. fantastic stuff… talk about similar taste/shared experiences. if you just change a few words in the articles you could be talking about alternative worship. it’s not just the music – it’s the stance, the passion, the ethos, the creativity, the vibe…
here’s a few quotes. if you are into alt worship try substituting alt worship for bleep in the third and fourth quotes. also the same old struggles about gender in the fifth quote!

for the introduction of a new kind of music must be shunned as imperilling the whole state; since styles of music are never disturbed without affecting the most important political institutions…
bleep isn’t just about music. it’s also a community and a lifestyle. in fact i’d say bleep is an era, a chapter of music history which encompasses and reflects a huge cultural shift in our society…
bleep is also about an entire generation who have grown up to fuse visuals with music with electronics without question…
electronic music is still male dominated (although this is changing). here i am, yet another female who is enthusing on the sidelines. maybe it’s because girls just aren’t encouraged to get their screwdrivers out and flip open the back of their toys, never mind expensive pieces of audio equipment…
so i have taken the plunge and joined the big chill forum. the first thread i checked out Post Your Recent Mix Download Links Here is amazing – basically people have uploaded their mixes to download – (don’t even bother going there unless you have broadband!). i downloaded the first one mentioned by buzz from upstairs records – the whole thing could be a soundtrack to grace… in fact now it probably will be
