went to see the lichtenstein exhibition on at the hayward gallery at the weekend (thanks karen if you are reading!)…

really enjoyed it. his stuff is amazingly familiar now. the lichtenstein foundation has a pretty comprehensive web site. this is actually a really good exhibition for all ages including a drawing room where you can do your own pop art drawings. we’re kind of used to the style now but his stuff broke the rules of art. how could popular culture with its cartoons and bold colours possibly be conceived of as art?….

made me think a bit about alt worship’s use of popular culture in worship. some people may wonder how can that be worship?! i doubt our stuff will be on display in quite the same way years from now, but it is the same deal in a different sphere of life….
