Heqiexhibition
if you are in or near oxford he qi is exhibiting some prints between 15th and 26th october at regents park college and st giles church. click on the image to see the detail. we had the privilege of hearing he qi in a staff gathering today share some of his story and inspiration. it was interesting hearing how his use of colour is very counter cultural in chinese folk art. and he told one story of someone not liking his interpretation of jesus as it was too chinese – he was asked whether he could copy something like davinci’s last super instead. unsurprisingly he said no! see how the painting for cms is taking shape here

I have a friend whose brother is a well known illustrator and he was asked one time to use Leonardo Decapra’s face as the model for the face of the Jesus in a painting. He also said no.
Good for he qi for staying true to his own vision of Jesus!!

Tks for sharing this artist with us. Have been pouring over his web site – gorgeous and inspiring. Qi possesses that childlike innocence and depth of Spirit that I find in Chagall. Beautiful.
