greenbelt is looming on the horizon. over the next few days i’ll post up the worship stuff. people often ask me about visiting alternative worship groups in the uk. i always say that your best bet is to come to greenbelt because there is so much going on. i think you’ll agree after you see what’s in store. the worship programme is put together by volunteers co-ordinated by myself and gayle (who has been a star).
first up there have been a few features on greenbelt’s daily update web page….
scratch alternative worship | shrines on the way | global zoo | city of peace
scratch alt.worship – alas, not a world first – which means maybe we were! we (HOST in Bradford) led similar sessions with young people a few years ago. creative session on the saturday afternoon, put on the worship on the sunday morning. venues included bradford cathedral. we then also did a few of our normal services that way to a much tighter timescale – meeting in the afternoon, break for pizza, and then on with the show.
it’s superb visions are doing this. i think one of the misconceptions people have is that alt.worship is difficult to ‘do’. it’s actually a whole lot of fun. i think the natural evolution of alt.worship may well be scratch services. go guys!
scratch alt.worship is certainly not a world first! – I’ve been doing them for years – ever since I discovered that the biggest enemy of alt.worship was that the extensive planning was becoming too tiresome for people to commit. The ‘scratch’ thing works brilliantly, and I shall definitely be one of the “customers” at Visions (FANTASTIC GROUP) to see what happens.
