at last england regain the ashes

congrats to england on winning the ashes. what an amazing series of cricket matches over the summer. it certainly feels sweet to finally inflict defeat on australia’s side that have been brilliant and dominated cricket for so long. every match has been exciting in its own way. the last proved a nail biter through to the last day. but in the end even the aussies agreed the best side won

i am actually in france near geneva for a couple of days teaching youth ministry at collonges sous saleve.  no danger of finding cricket on  tv here! so i have been kept up to date either via internet updates or text messages from england.

I’m going to blackban UK blogs for a week…
The ashes has completely screwed my bodyclock over the last couple of months and all I’ve got to show from it is damaged pride…
    😉

Thank you for the lovely thoughts.

yes. well done, poms. you have more chance of seeing the cricket in france than i have here in kentucky. it was one of the highlights of our recent trip to the UK to watch the last part of the fourth test with you jonny. good times.
it will be nice to see the aussies come to the next series as underdogs.

Congrats. It was an amazing series and being back in London last week, it was fantastic to see the support for the game.

Yeah don’t worry, you guys won’t have it for long. Warney will win it back for us, even if we have to get him out there in a wheelchair!

I am reminded of Michael Vaughan’s immortal comment after defeating the Windies.
“This achievement we have achieved is a great achievement.” Body clock stuffed. Aussies are out playing cricket everywhere and its still footy season……I think its actually got the Aussie public interested in cricket again…..thank God for a contest! as for the result…..

Terrific series!! As an Australian fan it was kind of tough to see them go down, but the tension was fantastic. If you’d like it relive it, I’ve got a bunch of photo re-enactments of key moments in each Test: http://theashes.typepad.com/the_ashes/photos/index.html
Everyone from the BBC to Zoo Weekly magazine (???) have been talking about these photos, so I guess there’s something ok about it.
