backbone is back

back in 1999 together with jon birch we released an album backbone as jonnys in the basement. the songs were written following a trip to palestine/israel in 1998. it was a sad angry protest album really. both jon and i have found ourselves returning to these songs in the last few years. they seem as relevant now as they did then. jon has remixed and remastered the whole album and we have set up a jonnysinthebasement bandcamp page where you can listen and buy the music. all proceeds (i.e.every penny, not just profit) will be passed on to amos trust. i went with them on the trip and they support work in palestine on the ground.

this is what we say on the site:

This is our response to the attrocities being meted out on the people of Palestine. First produced in 1999 to raise funds for Amos Trust, we felt it was time for a bit of a remix and remaster of the original album release.
All of the themes are as relevent in 2026 as they were then. The situation has in fact become much worse and we, as many others do, find ourselves both angry and sad. This album reflects those feelings.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO AMOS TRUST, a small human rights charity which has been working with the people of Palestine for several decades.
They are out there in the field, risking themselves for the sake of the well being of others and they need our support. The album can be dowloaded for £5.00, but you can opt to pay more if you feel you can. Thank you!
