i was invited to contribute an article to shibboleth magazine. i had not come across it before. jen said she had seen it at greenbelt which makes sense. the description on the web site says
An independent magazine for those deconstructing, those reconstructing and the spiritually unhoused. Belonging without purity tests. Identity in grace and generosity. The Church, militant for justice. Solidarity with the struggle for liberation.
But also, calm down. It’s just a magazine.
it’s thoughtful and free spirited. each issue is themed and issue 6 is on evangelism. perhaps like lots of others it’s a word i don’t warm to. there is a lot of baggage associated with it, and for some trauma even! so it was interesting to ponder what to write on. i ended up writing a piece called the bad news of jesus christ and letting go of it. this was inspired by randy woodley, a first nations theologian, who says that was what the gospel was for indigenous peoples in north america.

i have been given permission to share my article in whatever way seems appropriate so you can read it here as a pdf. it’s a print magazine which is impressive – do go and have a look and order a copy.
