these photos are taken at arashiyama bamboo grove in kyoto. it was dusk which made the light challenging but pushed me into a more playful approach with the camera. i'd love to know what photos you are drawn to or like out of the eleven i have added to a set here? i find a couple look more like paintings – an effect i have not produced in quite that way before…

i was excited about a bamboo grove because a) they look amazing but b) there are some fabulous animation sequences in anime films set in bamboo groves – my favourite being princess kaguya who runs through a grove which becomes a whirl of charcoal drawings.
