southwold pier

southwold pier, originally uploaded by jonnybaker.

on flickr you can look at details of photos (called exif data) which tells you things like exposure, focal length etc. some photos that i really liked the look of really confused me because they seemed to have an exposure of say 2 minutes in daylight. i couldn't figure out how they did that. but it dawned on me that they were clearly using some sort of trickery – a fliter that blocks out lots of light. anyway to cut a long story short i got myself one of these filters taht is so dark you can hardly see through it and this is a first attempt at using it. i realise there are too many highlights blown out but i sort of like how that loses the horizon in it. weird eh?!

I love the picture. I hope you had time to partake of some Adnams Ale while you were in Southwold!
