have just finished my two days teaching on youth ministry, mission, emerging church, alt worship, creativity etc in collonges sous saleve for the seventh day adventists. my first encounter with adventists and i think for many of them their first encounter with alt worship and emerging church. had a great time. thanks to manuela for her pioneering work and for the invitation. hope i sparked some thinking…
whilst here i got a quick tour round geneva, tasting swiss chocolate, visiting the lake, and seeing the statues of the reformers at the reformers wall.
this afternoon was real treat. we went up the saleve (huge mountain) which has stunning views across geneva one way and mont blanc the other. saleve is a spot for paragliding. we watched the paragliders launching themselves off the top of the mountain and floating on the thermal drafts with geneva in the background. it was breathtaking…
i have added a geneva 05 photo album (mainly of the paragliding). sadly i didn’t have my video camera with me so had to make do with a few movies on my still camera. here’s a movie of a paraglider launching themself off the cliff (5.7mb QT) – you can just make out the fountain on lake geneva in the distance. back to the uk tomorrow…
I really appreciated your pictures. It really blessed my heart to hear that you went to teach at collonge. I went there during the 1977-78 school year. I was 15 in the theology course. I have found memories. I’m no longer and adventist and it was interesting to see the progression. I’ve been up to that mountain and down to Geneva, wow so beuatiful. Thanks
