newsreader beta

netnewswire 2 is available. i have been using shrook but have never got round to paying so it cuts out after 15 minutes so i think i’m heading back to netnewswire which now seems to cope with atom feeds etc… the lite version is free and does the job.

if you have no idea what i am talking about get yourself a newsreader now – ask someone who uses one to show you it in action – you’ll never read blogs in the same way again.

of course Firefox does a nice job of handling RSS and Atom feeds, and Newsfire (also free for OS X) does a great job too…and I find it less cluttered than netnewswire.

I’m trying out the RSS reader in Thunderbird too. Don’t use it for my email but it seems to get around the cache refresh problems I have with the ISP’s upstream cache. The OSX news readers (like NetNewsWire) based on Safari’s web toolkit don’t seem to always get the latest version of an RSS feed through the cache. So far, so good with Thunderbird.
