VJ loops from SF – worship trick 87

when i posted about VJing in grace cathedral i said i’d show some examples of what arkaos can do by overlaying effects or videos with some kind of transparency or subtracting the dark or light parts of an image….

anyway waiting for a plane i’ve had a bit of time to export a few loops from arkaos (another cool thing about it). so here are 5 video loops that give you a flavour of what we were up to. 4 of them use our little loops of the cityscape over the bay bridge. the other one is an image of the weather project with an effect and the words christ is risen over it… each loop is a quicktime one and they are about 2mb each… feel free to use but not to publish without permission… cool eh?!

Interesting. How is the response from ppl? I’m not too informed with VJ worship experiences, but I have been to some polished services. For me, I dig on the raw, un-premeditated stuff. I think that’s a reason why I’m not big into studio releases – it seems to lack something…

i know what you mean – i think people can have slick polished stuff that doesn’t have a bite or an edge. i think it’s all about creativity – far better to be making and producing your own stuff (albeit mixed with some other stuff) than copying wholesale what others are doing…

As someone who was at the cathedral that day I can vouch for the fact that I and my seminary classmates thought the experience totally rocked. It was professionally done but it wasn’t too slick, which would have discouraged us from trying to do this in our chapel next year. There were 2 students from our worship committee and we’ve already started talking about incorporating VJing into chapel services next year. Your presentation made us feel like we could manage something that won’t embarrass us.

I think think this kind of creativity in using video during worship is sooooo needed!
I am willing to host whatever videos people create and distribute them on my website free of charge. Look me up at http://www.worshiploops.com.
I’d like to do whatever I can to promote this kind of creativity.
