fantastic discovery this weekend. i was trawling through a few links from my blog in bed on a sunday morning while jen was out for a run and noticed on the big chill web site that they have opened a new bar 10 minutes walk from liverpool street station. well joel and i had already planned to go to the barbican gallery to see the exhibition Communicate: British Independent Graphic Design since the Sixties (which b.t.w. was very good – no pictures though as they insisted you couldn’t take photos which was a bit annoying). so we headed over to the bar… and it lives up to expectations…
chilled music DJed from midday to midnight | comfy sofas | board games available free over the bar | cheap and tasty food (made with freerange meat and eggs) | sunday papers | frindly atmosphere | free wi fi
all in all just like the vibe of the big chill. finding a bar with good food, chilled atmosphere, music at a volume where you can still hold a conversation and the kind of music you want to listen to is a harder challenge than you might think. later this afternoon (by which time we will have left sadly – heading back to ealing for gracelet) a man called adam is playing a set. if only we had something like this in ealing! i think this could become a regular haunt albeit it is on the far side of london. for all you travellers passing through london the knowledge that you can get free wi fi should be enough to tempt you over…
One more reason to visit London again [winking]
