good to see seb again at greenbelt. he is blogging again and has started his own series of worship tricks. i’m sure they will be worth watching as he is very creative…
anyway the first one is a simple idea using an app called MacOSaiX to transorm pictures of your church/group into an icon of christ. i won’t nick all seb’s tricks and add them to mine but thought it would be a good way of flagging his up… this is how he describes it…
A visual idea for getting across how the body of christ was broken for all of us.
Ok so here is the idea before the service or in advance of the service (depends how organized you are!) you take a picture of every one that attends your church ie youth groups, all the different services, meet and eat groups and so on try and very the back grounds in all the pics you take. Then you will need to put all these pics in one file on your computer. Then download a free app called MacOSaiX. this app will enable you to create one image like the one above out of all the pics you have taken!
Or you could use the same method above to get across the idea of 1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
The image above is a old picture of jesus but made up of loads of pictures of different parts of bodies

Awesome!
Where did you get that picture? Is there a larger size?
A fantastic idea, and everyone loves a free download. Looking forward to experimenting with it later.
mac users only…huh!
ezmosaic at http://ezmosaic.com is shareware photomosaic program. The trial version maxes out at 1600×1600 pixels. Register for the other editions and get more.
This is a great idea, one that I actually thought of a few weeks ago (I just discovered your blog yesterday), in response to another good idea I got from Jonathan’s Resources for Youth Ministry.
What they do is kind of similar: they bought a $20 program that will turn any jpeg into a paint-by-numbers picture. They converted an image of Jesus, projected it onto a big board, then traced the design. During their meeting, they turned the board upside down (so no one would recognize what it was until it was nearly done) and had the youth paint it while they discussed the idea that they, themselves are the literal body of Christ on the Earth. When it was done, they turned it over and saw the image and thought about how what they do makes the image of Jesus for the world.
Anyway, I want to do something similar, but with a mosiac, like you describe. I’m waiting until I’ve compiled enough photos of the my group (you really need about 250 to make a very detailed mosaic). I’m going to print the photos out wallet-sized, with numbers on the back matching a grid I’ll draw on a big flat board (which I’ll spray with tacky, stick-on stuff). Then, we’ll do the same kind of service–I’ll shuffle the photos and deal them out to the kids, and then have them find the grid spaces matching the numbers on the backs of the pictures they have. One of the advantages of doing it as a photomosaic (aside from the obvious metaphorical implication of images of them as a group making up a communal image of Christ), is that you can’t really see the picture from closeup–you have to step back and look. that will make it more of a surprise.
Anyway, does the program work with a PC, or do you need a Mac?
