summer holidays are here at last… each year we have a jar we put pennies in. when the end of the school year arrives we spend it on going out – kind of a family tradition now. this year on a recommendation from my sister we went to see fuerzabruta at the roundhouse in camden. according to timeout this is the must see show of the summer. they are right! it is absolutely amazing. do whatever you can to go and see it. i used the word immersive to describe bill viola’s art exhibition, but this really is immersive theatre. the show happens in and around and above you in acrobatic, dramatic fashion. i have never been to anything remotely like it. at one moment a huge sheet of perspex is lowered from above with water on it and the actors moving balletically above. the sheet was lowered so that we could reach out and touch it. at another a moving walkway is moved among the crowd as a man runs through walls, at another actors literally are running around the walls suspended above. all the while ambient and dance soundtrack accompanies. what a great night out! i have added pictures i took to flickr that will give you the idea

Went tonight. Absolutely fantastic.
The budget might be out of reach of most alt worship groups but I reckon a cunningly suspended paddling pool, me Steve and Jonny in our jockeys and a bit of whale music and we’d have a very effective approximation. Might not just be church that is emerging.
ha! glad you got to see it – bonus that belgos is opposite eh?!
Some mussels washed down with chimay triple certainly completed an uncommonly fine evening.
mike – that’s a mental image that has kept me entertained all day…
Hi there Jonny, great image. I’m going to the show in a few days and really want to take some pics myself, but their site says no audio or visual equipments. Though a lot of people on flickr seem to have sneaked shots off with cameraphones and even Canon 350Ds! So I guess it’s just a matter of being a little covert then?..
they make an announcement saying no flash photography… i took my camera in around my neck – no one said anything. obviously i had the flash off… enjoy
