Actually Jonny, I go to you for what’s happening musically. I’ve been enjoying Proost’s latest two offerings as well. Recently I downloaded the latest from U2, Bruce Springsteen and Green Day. According to my 18 year old nephew who is the lead guitarist in a local San Diego band, these three choices put me into the old fart category. Oh well. And as I was editing my book, I download some more “Jesus” music – should anyone ever want to do a project where said tunes would be helpful, let me know. I have everything from Jonny Cash’s “Personal Jesus” that brings me to tears to a Marilyn Manson’s take on the same tune that produces another reaction.

Nothing down fer me, then! Current listening includes renaissance choral music, random Algerian pop and classic French cheese (and I’m not talking camembert)…oh, and I have something about ‘writer’s block’ in my head…perhaps that is a saving grace? I must admit to being a bit confused with the Johnny Cash cult – not that I object to him in any way. My dad loved him way back when I was nobbut a lass in the 60’s/70s, so I’ve always had a soft spot for him, but it was all a bit naff even then. Nothing like a good biopic to create a fashion…or has he just been discovered by a new generation who appreciate him?
I did once buy something on your advice, Jonny – The Eraser by Thom Yorke – and I wasn’t disappointed. Maybe I should take another leap of faith!

See Jonny – THAT’S why I don’t want to tell you what I’m listening to because it will expose my old fartness (which is why I rely on you to steer me towards the good stuff). In this case, my roommate during my freshman year in college was from New Jersey. While everyone else was listening to Carolina Beach Music and shagging like uber preppies, we were considered the radicals for putting on “Born to Run.” So, it’s a bit of nostalgia that I just can’t help.
Si – that album missed my radar but I just downloaded it. Thanks. Always on the lookout for Jesus songs. My Christian collection is pretty eclectic.
