grace this saturday – my turn to curate…
we’ll be exploring the story of the wayward younger son, grumpy older brother, embracing father aka the prodigal son. this time round no henri nouwen or rembrandt as the filter (wonderful though that is we’ve done that before… though looking at it i now realise that was over 10 years ago so maybe it wouldn’t matter!).
if you are coming please dig out an old photo or two that conjour up for you memories of home and bring them along
the title of course is inspired by padraig’s song yearn from the amazing hymns to swear by
home is one of my favourite themes at the moment. Have a look at this: http://www.iarchitectures.com/thehomeproject.html
It’s a street art project in dublin that used clean graffiti to stencil some reflections, by 10-12 years olds, on home onto a street in dublin.
Other resources are the film Wizard of Oz, ‘There’s no place like home’ – do we prefer the grey monotony of kansas to the multi coloured diversity of Oz? (not aus!) – It is a modernist myth about progress?
and brian and syliva’s book – ‘beyond homelessness’is a gem.

want to join the planning group – 8pm tonight at my place! ha… also liked your prodigal emerging church parable on the blog.
That looks a great project, Ben, but the format of the site isn’t very conducive to looking at what they produced. They seem to have gone for clever over accessible, or maybe I’m just too linear!
this is where the stencils are: http://www.iarchitectures.com/thehomeproject/homeprojectgalleries/statementsgallery/statements.html you need to move the cursor around the screen for more to appear.

thanks ben – we’ll probably use some!
