the december issue of emergingchurch.info is online.
a new research section is launched. our thinking behind this is that when we set the site up initially it was to gather stories and reflections on what was happening. lots of people were talking about it but we figured that it was only as we could see what was happening on the ground that we’d see what it looked like. well a few years on and that process is still going on but several people are doing or have published research. so over the months and years we’ll gather all of that together and hope it becomes a bit of an R and D department for the emerging church.
several people have kindly offered to help support this endeavour – ian mobsby is taking the lead with a team of me, john drane, pete ward, steve taylor, and doug gay offering to help in whatever way we can… the hope is that the research will be at MA or PHD kind of level but not exclusively. if there are other pieces of research that are interesting in and of themselves in journals, books, by other groups then we’ll also be looking at those.
if you have done or know of interesting pieces of research then please let us know.
i get the honour of being first up with a relook at my dissertation on ritual as a strategic practice in postmodern times
Jonny, shouldn’t that be as ‘tactical practice’? Sorry to be so picky!
i like your de certeau instinct! but i used the word strategic as it related to catherine bell whose work i used as the framework…
