i should of course also mention that the tour de france starts this weekend and runs from july 1- july 23. itv4 are providing a daily update with some live coverage on itv3 at weekends. with lance armstrong retired this really should be an interesting year. i know some blog readers are bemused by my interest in the tour de france but i still think it is one of the most amazing sporting events. i confess that i actually have a tour de france blog in my newsreader that feeds me all sorts of trivia though the year that i ignore but it should come into its own now…

    Please don’t apologise for being a fan of the Tour! If other readers don’t get it then there’s a big yellow-jersey-shaped hole in their lives. As you know I’m steeped in football, but regardless of that I’d go as far as to say that the Tour is the most amazing sporting event. Incomparable. Can’t wait.

    i was staying with friends in paris a couple of years ago when the tour de france was on. they lived in rue de versailles – the final day route was directly past their apartment … that was very cool! we hung off the balcony and went wild in a very subdued parisian way…

    Totally with you on LOVING the TDF but have you picked up the news today, Ullrich and Basso out and goodness knows who else (there’s a link on my blog). Not sure how its going to look tomorrow
