cheryl lawrie runs one of the best blogs on alternative worship – she posts so many resources and creative ideas. over easter she and mark pierson ran what looks like an amazing service called dead man waiting. the centre piece was cones of frozen red ice dyed red that dripped onto crushed ice below. and then the service followed through themes of grief – anger, denial, anguish, fear, resolution. cheryl has posted pictures and the written liturgical reflections on her blog as follows:

the service ended up with the U2 song wake up dead man. i think that is a great choice – i very nearly chose that as a song to play in nine this year at grace but ended up using o god where are you now by sufjan stevens which weirdly enough was also used in this service.
