had a day in birmingham today with about 30 kind people who showed up to help us reflect on the emergingchurch.info site and how it’s working or not and to dream ideas for how it should develop. it’s going to take a while to process all the thoughts. but it was a good day.
there were a couple of highlights of the day for me. one was hearing local stories of what people are up to in birmingham – B1, a city centre networked church that has been going about 4 and a half years; sanctuary which has an east meets west fusion; and mission stuff in sparkbrook which richard is involved with. all the people presenting the stories had such integrity – i found it a very hopeful moment. it also raised some really interesting challenges and questions about what mission and worship can be like in contexts where there are people of other cultures and faiths.
the other highlight was showing people a new interactive piece for the site but i can’t tell you any more about it until june 1 when it will be launched on the site… it seemed to go down well.
Thanks for you and the team organising the day. Good to meet up with some faces behind names and to hear stories too. (Apologies for having to leave early!)
If it’s worth anything, I find that website a bit too “busy” on the eye…
Jonny, it was good to spend a day listening to what God is doing around the country, i hope that the comments on the web site were constructive and give you something to work on, it’s really hard to get a balance between the ‘Mag’ feel and a blog…be encouraged we need still need WEB SITES….a little more work on the navigation of the site would be helpful!
Tim
Thanks for organising the day, I hope our comments were useful to you.
