it’s great to have alan hirsch and michael frost over from downunder for a week. you’ve probably noticed me plugging the events. well last night was london zoo with a chance for them to present some ideas to the alt worship groups in london. we had about 60 there. i hope it was a good provocation – in grace we are certainly talking about what mission means at the moment so it was good to add that in the mix. whilst it seems to have wound steve up (and maybe some others?) the hope for me is to get alt worship biting the bullet of talking about mission, whatever that ends up looking like in our various contexts.
today was the first of the blah shaping days in london. i haven’t got time to write much about it now but we had about 170 there. i have uploaded alan’s presentation on missional DNA. and there are also two articles from michael and alan as features on blahonline…
Christendom-era Church DNA flaws | contextualised truth into youth culture
tomorrow is the start of a two day conversation with people involved in various denominations and networks on missional leadership training – the question is what we need in the uk that isn’t on the map at the moment. we’ll see what comes out of that dreaming… i’m hoping and praying it will shift some things….
then on to brum and sheffield before heading back to london. the blog may be quiet this week…
Jonny thanks for a good high value day!
great day Jonny – loads of stuff to chew on. are there gonna be MP3’s of the talks available? and does it bother you that the middle of the mDNA matrix forms a Pentagram…mmmmm.
well – hirschy has jewish roots so maybe it’s the star of david?… mmmmm
the day was recorded. it will be sent to me and i’ll do my best to make it avaialable as mp3s from http://www.blahonline.net – i need to check mike and alan are happy with that. i’m also a bit worried that sound quality may not be brilliant? we’ll see. i’ll put it in the follow up e-mail i send round and will no doubt blog it
good seeing you
Good comments and insights at moot as well. God bless you in the UK!

Shaping of things to come…
Courtesy of blah I’m listening to Hirsch and Frost’s take on mission. Feeling the ‘missional pulse’ of how to be church in a culture where people are not interested. The importance of recognising the need for proximity, presence, powerlessness, procl…
thanks for the updates! it’s great to hear about everything and glad folks are
getting their blood going on missional stuff! have fun! lil
I just want to say that the Birmingham event was was really inspirational – thanks for organising it, Jonny.
Some of what Mike and Alan said was, indeed, provocative, but, IMHO, not at all disrespectful.
As a Baptist minister, I personally came away from the event feeling challenged rather than demeaned, and I will be mulling over what they said for a long time to come.
Also, may I say that the worship led by Pall of Sanctuary was spot on for the occasion.
Cheers!
Came back from the Sheffield day to grab a quick bite before taking part in our Friday Cafe Service… (http://www.fridayservice.org.uk/2/index.asp)
God is up to something and we may not like it!
Alan and Michael were brilliant.
Thanks for organising the Ozzies to come and be prophets to the Poms :o)
Can someone please invite them to Spring Harvest?
