alan hirsch and michael frost tour in october

shaping tour title

every so often you get to make an exciting post. today’s one of those days!!! we’ve been planning this for a while. you will have heard me enthusing about the book ‘the shaping of things to come’ before – i think it’s one of the best books around on mission in the emerging culture. the authors alan hirsch and michael frost are in the uk doing days in london, birmingham and sheffield. the publicity has just arrived. let me know if you can promote it round your network/area/church/organisation/friends and i can send you some fliers. if you have an e-mail network then you can send round the pdf of the flier or point people to www.cms-uk.org/shaping which has all the details. anyway this is the lowdown:

The Shaping of Things to Come
Innovation and Mission for the 21st Century Church with
Alan Hirsch and Michael Frost

There is currently unprecedented interest and focus on reshaping the church for mission – with a buzz around emerging church, mission shaped church, fresh expressions of church (or whatever you like to call it). It’s an exciting time to be alive as God beckons us into the future. But we need retooling and retraining. Alan and Mike have been involved in church planting and training missional leaders for several years. They have a fantastic sense of what God is up to in mission in the emerging culture round the world. This day will explore how the church can recalibrate itself for mission, rebuilding from the roots up – expect a mix of inspiration, stories, reflection, encouragement, conversation, leadership training, theology, and practical advice. We hope it will fuel your ongoing mission.

Alan Hirsch directs Forge, a mission leadership training network in Melbourne and is widely regarded for his radical approach to mission in the West. Michael Frost is a teacher, writer, church leader and one of Australia’s leading communicators and evangelists. They have co-authored the book ‘The Shaping of Things to Come’. They are coming a long way so don’t miss this chance to hear them!

Len Hjalmarson at NextReformation.com has a terrific review and synopsis of the book. Far from the idea, “Oh, I’ve read the review now, so I don’t need to get the book,” it has made me want to buy it! Your endorsement means a lot.

As well as the Urban church stuff I’m also a mission tutor at the salvation army college and if there is flexibility in the timetable I’d be interested to see if there is a way of bringing some guys from our sally college. Is there a way getting a poster or two and fliers? If so I’ll email you our address.

buzz me an e-mail and i’ll send you some fliers next week
